I began my hairdressing career at the age of 16, some 36 years ago, with La Biosthetique training under Rene Sauter as his personal apprentice working in the salon and on stage. I have also worked with the original members of the Vidal Sassoon team. I gained my City and Guilds qualification in just 2 years. Under Rene’s guidance I received extensive training using La Biosthetique hair and beauty products which we use exclusively at Benessere. I have continued updating and expanding my professional qualifications through my career to include; NVQ Level 3; Tony & Guy advanced cutting course in London; Basic beauty treatment; Hair, skin and scalp analysis; Studied a full history of hairdressing from Egyptian times to present; I am an accomplished wig maker and have completed hair extension training with Raccoon and Balmain. At 19 I left to be head stylist at a small salon and 6 months later was head hunted to turn round a struggling salon, within 6 months I turned a loss making business into a healthy profitable business. I left after 8 months to manage a salon in Redditch overseeing twelve stylists.
Through my career I have done extensive theatre work including period costume, choreographed my own stage hair shows including James Bond, Latin American and several other themes.
I was offered but declined head stylist position at House of Frasier and a position at a La Biosthetique salon in Germany.
I setup my first Hairdressing business in 1988 and have continued to run my own business’s ever since. In 2006 I returned to my roots with La Biosthetique, I acquired what was then known as CJ Hairdressers, expanded the business to double the size of the salon, refurbished the whole business and changed the name to Benessere (Italian for “well being”. In November 2009 Rob, my business partner, joined me to run the administration, finance and marketing side of the business." Despite the economic climate Rob and I have achieved significant sales and profit growth over the past 2 years. We support charity work as salon owners, contributing prizes to local charity events; sponsoring a guide dog for the blind and encouraging our team to participate in fund raising events for example help the Heroes.
