I began my hairdressing career at the age of 16 with La Biosthetique, training under Rene Sauter as his personal apprentice working in the salon and on stage. I also worked with the original Vidal Sassoon team.
I started my first hair salon back in 1988 and have continued to run my own businesses ever since. In 2006 I returned to my roots with La Biosthetique, acquiring what was then known as CJ Hairdressers in Bromsgrove, and Benessere was born.
I chose the name, Benessere, as it’s Italian for “well being” which captures the very essence of what I want the salon to be. A major refurbishment followed, Rob my business partner joined me in 2009 and the rest, as they say, is history.
I have always been attracted to the creative side of hairdressing. It’s a little known fact that I’ve studied the history of hairdressing from Ancient Egypt to today and have worked extensively in the theatre, including period costume, and am an accomplished wig maker. These days I bring this expertise to hair extensions having trained with Raccoon and Balmain.
After all these years in our fantastic industry I still believe you learn something every day. It’s what makes life exciting and my work so enjoyable. Only this summer I completed the La Biosthetique Cutting Diploma. What a great course – showing new and different techniques for beautiful lines. And in September I put myself through the extremely tough La Biosthetique Colour Genius Diploma aimed at experienced colourists who wish to take their skills to the next level. I am now one of a handful La Biosthetique Cutting and Colour Consultants in the UK. I have to confess the highlight was collecting my Awards at a glittering award ceremony in beautiful Paris.
